Norwegian Cruise Line, the flagship brand of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (which also owns Oceania and Regent Seven Seas), operates a 19-ship fleet famous for 'freestyle cruising' — open dining and a more flexible daily schedule than rivals. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, fleet mostly built at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.
For seafarers
Crew contracts run 6-9 months with mid-to-high pay tier. The fleet is concentrated in the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and a growing Asia-Pacific deployment. NCL is the only major cruise line operating a US-flag vessel (Pride of America in Hawaii), which has a US-only crew complement — a unique career niche for US-credentialed seafarers. Other NCL ships are flagged Bahamas, with the standard international crew mix.
Watch for
Pride of America runs Hawaiian inter-island only and is the only major-line US-flag ship; pay is significantly higher than international tonnage but contracts are shorter (4-5 months) and crew status under US labour law differs from MLC-only international tonnage. Confirm flag and applicable law before signing.
