Privacy
Seafarer Index does not use analytics, trackers, or third-party scripts that identify you. There are no advertising cookies. We do not attempt to fingerprint your device.
What we store
- Anonymous visitors: nothing on our servers. The two cookies we set client-side are the theme preference (
theme) and low-data mode (ldm) — both optional, both first-party, both opt-in via the toggles in the header. - Forum members: the email you register with (Supabase Auth — used for sign-in and password reset only) and the handle / optional rank / optional nationality / optional bio you choose. You can delete your account from
/account; deletion removes your auth row, profile, and any newsletter subscription. - Newsletter subscribers: email address and a confirmation token. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link with a unique token; clicking it removes your row.
Third-party services on page
- OpenStreetMap — port and seafarer-centre detail pages embed an OSM minimap via an iframe to
openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html. OpenStreetMap may log the IP that loads the iframe (per their privacy policy). No personal data is transmitted by us. - flagcdn.com — flag images on flag-state pages.
- Resend — auth and newsletter emails are sent through Resend (smtp.resend.com). Open-tracking pixels are disabled. Click-tracked links are disabled.
- Supabase — Postgres + Auth provider. Forum posts and account data live there. Hosting region: Singapore (ap-southeast-1).
Cookies
First-party only: theme (light/dark), ldm (low-data mode), Supabase auth cookies if you sign in. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies. Browser Do Not Track is respected by virtue of us not having anything to track.
