A seafarer centre is a port-side welfare facility offering wifi and phone calls home, transport into town, a chapel or quiet room, a small shop, sometimes hot meals or accommodation, and most importantly a chaplain or volunteer who has time to listen. Most are operated by long-established missions — Mission to Seafarers (Anglican), Stella Maris (Catholic / Apostleship of the Sea), Deutsche Seemannsmission, NAMMA-affiliated centres in North America, plus regional independents. Use is free for all seafarers regardless of nationality, faith, or rank.
