Seafarer Index ships in English. UI strings have been translated into Filipino (Tagalog) where there is a working translation, and a handful of country guides have been written directly in the seafarer's home language. Everything else is English-only. We will not auto-translate — bad translations of safety and legal content harm the people who need it most.
These are the locales for which the site chrome (header, navigation, common controls) has a hand-checked translation. Pick a language from the switcher in the footer.
Country-specific career guides have been written directly in the home language for the largest seafarer-supplying nations. These are not machine translations of the English guide — they were written for the local context.
If you are a working seafarer, a maritime educator, or a professional translator with maritime experience, we welcome help with: (1) extending UI string coverage for Hindi, Russian, Ukrainian, Indonesian, Chinese, or Spanish; (2) reviewing the existing Filipino UI translation; (3) writing country guides in additional home languages (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Romania, Myanmar are gaps).
