Bollard Pull

Static towing force a vessel can exert against a fixed bollard with the propeller running at maximum continuous rating. It is the headline specification for tugs and AHTS vessels and is measured under controlled conditions per ABS Guide for Bollard Pull Certification with the test bollard, line angle, and water depth specified to make results comparable across yards. Harbour tugs typically deliver 30–60 t, large escort tugs 80–110 t, and AHTSs supporting deepwater rigs 250–300 t or more — values quoted in continuous pull rather than peak.
