Ship-borne or shore-based weather radar that uses Doppler shift to estimate precipitation intensity and storm motion.

Modern weather routing services use coastal Doppler-radar feeds (NOAA, EUMETNET) for storm tracking. The bridge accesses via VSAT-delivered weather product overlays on the ECDIS or a dedicated routing display.

Modern bridge X-band radars include a weather mode showing precipitation echoes; not as detailed as land-based S-band Doppler. Ship-routing services (StormGeo, AWT, DTN) integrate Doppler data with model output to recommend course adjustments around developing convective cells.
