International Group of P&I Clubs

International Group of P&I Clubs — an association of thirteen mutual P&I clubs that share claims via a pooling and reinsurance arrangement, providing effective per-event coverage running into billions of dollars. Member clubs together insure approximately 90% of world ocean-going tonnage. The IGP&I publishes shared circulars on issues such as sanctions compliance, cyber risk, and biofouling claims, and represents the membership in IMO and EU regulatory consultations. The pooling agreement is reviewed periodically by competition authorities in the EU and UK and operates under specific regulatory exemptions.
