ISGOTT, the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals, is the industry-standard guidance for oil-tanker and terminal cargo operations, jointly published by OCIMF, the International Chamber of Shipping and IAPH. Now in its 6th edition (2020), it covers static electricity, vapour control, tank cleaning, ship/shore checklists, gas measurement and emergency response. Although compliance is formally voluntary, ISGOTT is relied on in port state control and oil-major vetting (SIRE, RightShip), which makes it de facto mandatory for a tanker seeking vetting acceptance.
