List vs Loll

Distinct phenomena in stability practice. List is heel from asymmetric weight distribution acting on a positive-GM ship — the vessel sits steadily at the heel angle and returns to that angle when disturbed. Angle of loll arises when the ship has negative GM and oscillates about an angle of either side of upright at which positive righting first emerges. The corrective actions differ: list is corrected by shifting weight to the high side; loll is corrected first by improving GM (filling low tanks symmetrically, removing top weight) before considering weight transfer.
