LNG Bunkering

Transfer of LNG fuel to a ship from a bunker supply: ship-to-ship from a bunker vessel, truck-to-ship at port, terminal-to-ship from a fixed pipeline, or container-to-ship from ISO containers. Procedures are governed by ISO 20519:2021 (LNG bunkering) and ISO/TS 18683 (operational risk). Connection uses dry-disconnect couplings; cool-down of the receiving line and tank is required before bulk transfer. The IGF Code (MSC.391(95)) applies to the receiving ship. Custody-transfer measurement uses Coriolis mass-flow meters or shore tank-gauging, with a written cargo measurement protocol.
