PSC Deficiency Codes

Standardised numeric and alphanumeric codes used by port state control inspectors to record specific deficiencies found during inspection. The codes are aligned across the Paris MoU (THETIS), Tokyo MoU (APCIS), and other MoUs, enabling cross-region statistical analysis and trend reporting. Each code maps to an IMO instrument and regulation — for example 01101 for cargo-securing manual not approved, 04108 for a defective EPIRB. The full list is published in the Paris MoU and Tokyo MoU PSC manuals and is updated periodically as new instruments enter force.
