Confidential, ship-specific plan implementing the ISPS Code; approved by the Administration or RSO on its behalf.
Regulatory detail & full definition
Confidential, ship-specific plan implementing the ISPS Code requirements, approved by the Administration or a Recognised Security Organisation acting on its behalf under ISPS Code Part A 9. The SSP defines the access controls, restricted areas, security duties of crew, communication of threats, training requirements, and procedures for each ISPS security level. The SSP is held by the SSO and certain crew with specific security duties; it is not shared with PSC inspectors generally, though they verify implementation. Major non-conformities require corrective action before the International Ship Security Certificate is reinstated.
