Demurrage clock

Laytime is the period allowed for loading or discharging cargo under a charterparty. Once that period expires, demurrage accrues at a daily rate until the vessel is released. If the vessel is released before laytime expires, despatch may be earned (typically at half the demurrage rate).

• NOR (Notice of Readiness) — tendered when the vessel has arrived at the port and is ready in all respects to load or discharge.
• SHINC — Sundays and Holidays Included (all time counts).
• SHEX — Sundays and Holidays Excluded (those periods do not count as laytime).
• WWD — Weather Working Days (bad weather days are excluded; same Sunday exclusion as SHEX).
