Able Seafarer Engine (motorman)

Able Seafarer Engine / Motorman — STCW III/5 rating, qualified watchkeeper in the engine room. Greasing, oil checks, soundings, log-book entries, supports the watchkeeping engineer.

Route: AB Engine certificate (STCW III/5). 12 months engine-room sea-time post-Engine Wiper plus the formal STCW III/5 course and assessment.
Watches: Rotating watch (4-on / 8-off) with the engineer of the watch.
Progression: Wiper → Oiler → Motorman / AB Engine → Fitter / ETO
