MSC Bellissima is a 2019-built Meraviglia-class cruise ship (167,600 GT, 5,700 passenger capacity) built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. She entered service in March 2019 with a naming ceremony in Southampton attended by Sophia Loren. Sister to MSC Meraviglia. Notable for the industry's first Zoe voice assistant on cabin walls and a 96m glass Galleria Bellissima promenade. Operates Mediterranean summers and Emirates winters; base-ported at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi Dec-Mar.
Meraviglia-class ships carry ~1,536 crew for 5,700 guests — a 1:3.7 ratio typical of modern mass-market cruises. Deck-officer intake into the MSC fleet often begins on the Meraviglia class before rotation to newer Seaside or World-class hulls. Multilingual crew requirements (Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese-Brazilian, Filipino, Indonesian) make this class a career-defining post for early-career hospitality officers.
