Symphony of the Seas is a 2018-built Oasis-class cruise ship (228,081 GT, 6,680 passenger capacity), the fourth vessel in her class and — at launch — the world's largest passenger ship. Built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique for Royal Caribbean International; Bahamas-flagged. Her 18 decks house the class-defining seven neighborhoods, including a Central Park with 20,700 real plants and a Boardwalk with the largest carousel at sea. Home-ported in Miami and Barcelona.
Symphony's ~2,200 crew serving 6,680 guests exemplifies the mega-cruise scale challenge: department heads run operations larger than most small hotels ashore. Ratings on Oasis-class hulls navigate a 66,000-square-metre deck area and 24 elevators, and crew-only backstage corridors approach 3 km end-to-end. Crew-hierarchy politics (bridge vs. hotel vs. entertainment) are notoriously intense — a formative career post.
