HMM Algeciras is a 23,964 TEU ULCV built by Daewoo (now Hanwha Ocean) and delivered to HMM in 2020. At delivery she was the world's largest container ship by TEU, exceeding the previous Hong Kong-class record. The vessel marked HMM's emergence from its 2016 restructuring period into a leadership position on the Asia-Europe trade. The class also includes the next-generation eight sisters.
HMM Algeciras-class crews are senior Korean officers (KMOU pipeline) with Filipino and Indonesian rating recruitment. The class delivery marked HMM's return to investment-grade balance-sheet status, and crew morale across the company has tracked that recovery. Engineering plant is MAN-ES 11G95 main engine with the standard Korean-builder Furuno + JRC bridge fit; engineers cross-train easily between sister hulls.
