Icon of the Seas is the lead ship of Royal Caribbean's Icon class, built at the Meyer Turku yard in Finland and delivered in 2024. At delivery she became the world's largest cruise ship by gross tonnage (248,663 GT) — surpassing the Oasis-class Wonder of the Seas. Icon is LNG-dual-fuelled and uses methanol-ready infrastructure; she represents Royal Caribbean's transition from heavy fuel oil to lower-carbon propulsion. Icon-class crews navigate the operational complexity of LNG bunkering (typically at PortMiami) alongside conventional passenger operations. Engineering officers with LNG-cargo or LNG-fuelled-vessel experience are at a premium. The new build standard sets a high bar for crew accommodation and common areas; many crew have transitioned from older Oasis-class assignments.
