Evergreen Marine is Taiwan's largest shipping company and one of the world's largest container lines. Headquartered in Taipei. The company is the principal asset of the Evergreen Group conglomerate (also owns EVA Air). The Ever Given grounding in the Suez Canal in 2021 made the fleet briefly the world's most-recognised shipping brand. Around 220 vessels in service.

Contracts 6-9 months with mid-tier pay. Officer pipeline strongly Taiwanese (National Taiwan Ocean University) and Chinese; rating recruitment heavy from the Philippines and Indonesia. Strict Taiwanese-style discipline standards onboard, generally well-maintained vessels.

Watch for

The Ever Given incident triggered significant reputational and operational scrutiny — expect tighter onboard reporting and procedure documentation than at many peers. Taiwanese onboard culture can be hierarchical; verify the working language and chain of command for your specific assignment.
