Overview
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services is Israel's national container line, publicly listed on the NYSE since 2021. Headquartered in Haifa. ZIM operates around 150 vessels — mostly chartered rather than owned — focused on Asia–North America trans-Pacific routes.
For seafarers
Contracts 4-6 months with mid-tier pay. ZIM's mostly-chartered fleet means most seafarers are technically crewed via the ship's owner-manager (e.g. Eastern Mediterranean Maritime, Pacific International Lines, V.Ships), not ZIM directly. Confirm your actual employer before signing.
Watch for
Israeli-flag tonnage faces port-state restrictions in several Muslim-majority countries; route assignments are more constrained than for other operators of comparable size. ZIM is reliant on the asset-light chartered model — pay and conditions vary by the chartering ship-owner more than at owner-operated lines.
