The Tanzania-flagged general cargo vessel Alexandria was abandoned at Alexandria anchorage, Egypt, in September 2022 with 9 Ukrainian, Filipino, and Turkish crew. The abandonment coincided with the middle phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, complicating Ukrainian repatriation via martial-law-restricted routes. ITF Egypt + Egyptian Chamber of Shipping coordinated emergency food + water delivery over 11 months.
