The Panama-flagged general cargo vessel Palawan was abandoned at Fujairah anchorage with 14 Indian, Filipino, and Myanmar crew. The vessel joined the persistent Fujairah roads cluster of abandoned tonnage that ITF Dubai and Mission to Seafarers Fujairah worked through 2018-2020. MLC financial-security was lapsed. Panama Maritime Authority intervened after 8 months of ITF campaigning; crew were progressively repatriated through 2019. The vessel was subsequently sold at judicial auction to recover a portion of unpaid wages. Case became the ITF exemplar for the extended-crew-stay + partial-wage-recovery pattern common on smaller open-registry tonnage.
