Always sail with your own copy of the SEA, the CBA reference, and the allotment form.

What it is

A complete, signed copy of your SEA, with all annexes (CBA reference, wage scale, allotment form, leave entitlement). The MLC requires the seafarer to be given a copy.

Who needs it

Every seafarer.

When it is checked

• Any wage dispute.
• Any abandonment claim.
• Any port-state-control complaint.

Common mistakes

• Leaving the only copy with the agent.
• No photo backup.
• Annexes not included — the CBA referenced in the SEA is usually critical to the wage entitlement.
