Report a correction

If something on Seafarer Index is wrong, missing, or outdated — please tell us. We act on every report. Corrections do not require an account.

Three ways to submit

1. Per-page report link. Every detail page (port, ship, company, flag, certification, glossary term, training centre) carries a Report an error link at the foot. It pre-fills the URL and the source field for you.
2. Forum. Post in /community. Faster for community-checked questions.
3. GitHub issue or pull request. The whole site, data, and build scripts are open-source at github.com/bryanflowers/seafarerindex. Best for structural fixes (new field, taxonomy change, schema bug).

What to include

• The page URL.
• The specific fact you believe is wrong, and what the correct fact is.
• A link or citation for the correct fact (official source, regulator, employer document, court record, news article). One good link beats five bad ones.
• Optional: which dataset you think this belongs to, if you know.

What we will and will not publish

We will publish:

• Corrected factual fields (a port's timezone, a flag's MLC status, a certificate's validity period).
• Updated regulatory references (e.g. STCW 2026 amendments).
• Added official contact details for a welfare organisation, union, or seafarer centre.
• Removal of an entity that genuinely no longer exists.

We will not publish:

• Defamatory or unverified criminal allegations against a named individual or company.
• Personal data of any specific seafarer, family member, or crew complement.
• Removal of accurate but unflattering directory information at the subject's request, unless there is a clear factual error.
• Job offers or recruitment messages of any kind.

If you are a company or agency

We welcome corrections from companies, manning agencies, training providers, port authorities, and welfare organisations about their own listings. Send the official source URL for each corrected field. We will update and re-verify within a normal review cycle.

If you reported a scam, fraud, or abuse

We are not a regulator. If you have been scammed by a fake manning agency, abandoned by an employer, or are facing wage theft, please also escalate to the helplines and the relevant authority — see /rights/recruitment-fees-and-scams and /help/abandonment.
