Vessel built around a saturation diving system, typically with DP-3, ROVs, and large moonpool.
Regulatory detail & full definition
Vessel built around a saturation diving system, with a hyperbaric chamber complex, a closed bell, and a moonpool through which the bell is launched. DSVs operate to depths of 200–300 m using helium-oxygen breathing mixtures and saturate divers for shifts of typically 28 days. The vessel carries DP-3 station-keeping, an offshore crane, and ROVs to support the divers' work. The IMO Code of Safety for Diving Systems (Resolution A.831(19)) and IMCA D 014 / D 015 cover system design and diver competence respectively.
