EmS Guide

IMO Emergency Response Procedures for Ships Carrying Dangerous Goods; gives Fire and Spillage schedules referenced from the DG list.

Regulatory detail & full definition
IMO Emergency Response Procedures for Ships Carrying Dangerous Goods (MSC.1/Circ.1588 as amended) — known as the EmS Guide. For each UN number on the IMDG list, the guide assigns a Fire schedule (F-A through F-J) and a Spillage schedule (S-A through S-Z) that crews follow if an incident involves that substance. The schedules cover protective equipment, fire-fighting medium, ventilation, and clean-up. The Guide is mandatory carriage for SOLAS-regulated ships under SOLAS Reg. II-2/19.4 and is referenced from the dangerous-goods declaration so the master can prepare the response.
