Loss Prevention Circular

A loss-prevention circular is a bulletin issued by a Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Club to alert its members to emerging claim trends and to recommend operational improvements that reduce risk. They are read closely by shipowners' safety departments and Designated Persons Ashore (DPAs), and recurring topics include enclosed-space fatalities, mooring-line snap-back injuries, anchoring-related groundings, wet-damage cargo claims and stowaway patterns. Each of the major Clubs typically issues between five and fifteen such circulars a year, and their guidance often feeds into fleet procedures and toolbox talks.
