Adopted as amendments to SOLAS (Ch. XIV) and MARPOL. Categorises ships A/B/C by ice capability and requires a Polar Ship Certificate plus PWOM (Polar Water Operational Manual). Crew need IMO Model Course 7.11 (Basic) or 7.12 (Advanced).
