Trim and Stability Booklet — approved document on board summarising loading conditions, hydrostatic data, and stability criteria compliance. The booklet covers the ship's lightship particulars, stability criteria of the applicable code, sample loading conditions (ballast, full load, intermediate), worst-case damage scenarios where applicable, and the maximum permissible KG / minimum required GM curve. The master uses the booklet to verify that any operational loading condition complies with the code; modern loading instruments provide automated calculation but the approved booklet remains the legal reference.
