3F Søfart · Founded 2005 · Copenhagen, Denmark · Denmark
3F Søfart (Sea Transport section of Fagligt Fælles Forbund, Denmark's largest general union) represents ~4,000 Danish seafarers on Danish International Ship Register (DIS) vessels — the Danish two-tier equivalent to the Norwegian NIS/NOR system. Its central contract portfolio covers Maersk Line's remaining DIS-flag deep-sea fleet, Torm's tanker fleet, DFDS Seaways passenger and freight ferries, and the DIS-flag offshore-supply vessels serving the Danish North Sea sector. 3F has been notable in recent years for its aggressive advocacy on the Nordic tonnage-tax regime and on manning-level cuts by Danish operators moving to autonomous or reduced-crewing configurations. For Danish maritime officers, 3F Søfart membership is customary; the union runs a legal-support arm for members facing incident inquiries at the DMAIB (Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board).
