TDS (Türkiye Denizciler Sendikası, Turkish Seamen's Union) is the primary trade-union representative of Turkish seafarers, founded 1946. Turkey supplies a significant proportion of Mediterranean + Middle East officer crew, and Turkish officers are particularly prominent on Turkish-controlled international tanker + product-tanker fleets. TDS coordinates with Turkish Ministry of Transport + Infrastructure + is an ITF affiliate participating in IBF Framework negotiations. The union is also active on Bosphorus + Black Sea coastal-shipping labour standards + on Aliaga ship-recycling worker representation (a niche where Turkish + international scrap-yard labour standards intersect).
