Mozah is a 2008-built Q-Max LNG carrier (162,400 GT, 266,000 cubic-metre cargo capacity) — at launch, the world's largest LNG carrier, a title tied with sisters. Built by Samsung Heavy Industries and operated by Qatargas II. Marshall Islands-flagged. Named after Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, mother of the Emir of Qatar. Introduced the ultra-large Q-Max class that redefined LNG transport economics on the Qatar-to-Northeast-Asia route. 14 sister Q-Max hulls followed 2008-2010.
Q-Max crews operate what many consider the industry's most technically demanding cargo — LNG at -162°C with pressure control tolerances measured in millibar. Officers typically hold advanced tanker endorsements and complete extensive simulator training on cargo-plant transients. Qatargas rotates chief officers and second engineers through the class as a signal that they're on-track for command of newer Q-Flex and Meshaal-class vessels.
