Bunker Delivery Note (BDN) template

MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 18.5 requires a Bunker Delivery Note for every bunker delivery to a SOLAS ship. Minimum content is set out in Appendix V to Annex VI: vessel and supplier identity, port and date, product description, density at 15°C, sulphur content, declaration of compliance with Reg 18.3, and a sealed representative sample.

Use this template alongside the supplier's own BDN — bunker disputes (cappuccino effect, density discrepancy, contamination) often hinge on retained samples and clean BDN documentation.

The supplier's representative shall, in accordance with MARPOL Annex VI Reg 18.5, retain a sealed sample of the fuel oil delivered. The vessel shall keep the BDN for 3 years and the MARPOL sample for 12 months.
