The ship/shore safety checklist is a mandatory pre-cargo-transfer checklist completed and signed jointly by the ship and terminal representatives before, and at intervals during, loading or discharge. ISGOTT and the IGC Code prescribe its format, with items covering mooring, fire-fighting readiness, emergency communications, radio silence, prohibition of hot work, vapour control and verification of the emergency shutdown system. Agreed items are re-checked at set intervals during the operation, and the signed copy is retained on board (typically for three years).
