Overview
The American Club, formally the American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association, is the only US-domiciled International Group P&I member. Founded in 1917 in New York, it covers approximately 20 million GT of owned tonnage and is particularly strong in the Jones-Act US-flag fleet, US-coastal tug-and-barge, and the wider North-American operator base. Smaller than its London peers but with deeper US regulatory expertise.
