MT Central Park

Summary

Five armed men boarded the Zodiac Maritime-managed product tanker MT Central Park in the Gulf of Aden. The 22 crew — Bulgarian, Indian, Filipino, Turkish, Vietnamese, Georgian, Russian — retreated to the citadel and issued a distress call. USS Mason (DDG-87) responded and intercepted the attackers as they attempted to flee in a small boat; all five were captured. The vessel was released to its crew within 24 hours. Two Houthi missiles were subsequently fired at USS Mason during the response but missed.
