MV Verbena

Summary

The Palau-flagged bulk carrier Verbena, carrying timber cargo, was struck by Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles in the Gulf of Aden. The strike triggered a serious cargo-hold fire; one Filipino seafarer was medically evacuated by USS Philippine Sea. The vessel was ultimately abandoned as fire-fighting could not be sustained. The Verbena joined the True Confidence and Tutor as one of the campaign's fatalities-and-casualty-loss cases. Salvage was not attempted.
