usv strike · 2024-01-17 · Gulf Of Aden (off yemen)
The Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier Genco Picardy was struck by a Houthi water-borne uncrewed surface vessel in the Gulf of Aden. The vessel, owned by NYSE-listed Genco Shipping & Trading, was damaged in the cargo area but the fire was contained. Indian Navy INS Visakhapatnam responded and provided damage assessment support. No crew casualties. The incident illustrated that even vessels with no direct Israeli connection were being targeted opportunistically during the campaign's peak intensity phase.
