Overview
Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai — one of China's oldest, founded in 1865 — is the principal builder of Chinese Navy aircraft carriers and major surface combatants. On the commercial side, Jiangnan builds LNG carriers, VLCCs, container ships, and high-end ro-ro vessels, and it is the most heavily fortified-and-secured of the Chinese state yards because of the dual-use nature of its workload.
