Summary
Nigerian pirates boarded the Marshall Islands-flagged product tanker Achilleas off Bonny Island, Nigeria. Three Greek officers (Master, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer) were kidnapped and taken ashore into the Niger Delta swamps. The remaining 22 crew were released with the vessel; the 3 senior officers were held for 44 days before release upon reported ransom payment.
