The Liberia-flagged Greek-owned crude tanker Chios Lion was hit by a Houthi water-borne uncrewed surface vessel in the central Red Sea. The strike opened a substantial hull breach at the engine room area and started a fire. Crew abandoned ship and were rescued. The vessel drifted with residual crude cargo aboard. Salvage was contracted and towing to safe waters commenced under EU NAVFOR ASPIDES escort.
