salvage follow up · 2024-06-19 · Red Sea (southern red sea)
The MV Tutor, struck by a Houthi water-borne uncrewed surface vessel (USV) on 12 June 2024, sank on 18 June 2024 after crew evacuation to USS Philippine Sea + Emirati Navy vessels. The wreck at 1,300m depth in the southern Red Sea was left in place given the shipping-lane traffic + war-risk environment. This follow-up entry documents the confirmed loss + salvage disposition. The Tutor became the second confirmed merchant vessel loss of the Houthi campaign (after MV Rubymar).
