Oasis of the Seas is a 2009-built cruise ship (226,838 GT, 5,606 passenger capacity), lead ship of the Oasis class and — at launch — the largest passenger ship in the world by a wide margin, a distinction her class continues to hold for its later hulls. Built by STX Finland at Turku, one of the last major cruise deliveries before Chantiers de l'Atlantique captured the class-market. Introduced the seven-neighborhood concept (Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Pool & Sports Zone, etc.) that has since defined premium-mass-market cruise design.
Oasis is the first ship where the crew-to-guest cross-departmental cross-training curriculum needed formal design — no earlier cruise vessel had 22 elevators or seven neighborhoods to walk. Every Royal Caribbean officer above 2E-tier has spent time aboard, and the Oasis-class hazard-drill protocol is the industry template for evacuation from ships larger than 5,000 pax.
