Overview
Imabari Shipbuilding, headquartered in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, is Japan's largest shipbuilder. Founded in 1942 and majority family-owned, Imabari builds bulk carriers, ULCV container ships, and LPG carriers across multiple yards on the Seto Inland Sea. The company is the cornerstone of the Imabari shipbuilding cluster, which together accounts for around half of Japanese new-build output.
